What causes damp and mould?

Damp and mould usually occur as a result of moisture getting trapped in your home through normal, everyday activities such as cooking, doing laundry and washing.

When this warm air touches cold surfaces, especially during the colder months, it forms condensation. If left untreated, this can form patches of mould on your walls.

How to tackle condensation, damp and mould

Take a look at our guide to dealing with condensation, damp or mould problems in your home including how to prevent it and what to do if you find it.

If you have an MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery System) unit in your home, take a look at our guide on how to use it.
