Building for the future

Our aim is not just to build houses, but to create homes within communities.

Sustainable homes

Our new homes play a vital role in supporting the government’s net zero targets while also helping our customers manage the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. By prioritising energy efficiency, we help to reduce household energy costs and contribute to a more sustainable future.

In order to adapt to climate change and water scarcity, we are working to install water-efficient products in our planned maintenance programmes and new build homes. Our customers receive water-saving devices and and advice from us, too.

To reduce pollution derived from the development and maintenance of our homes, we encourage our suppliers to use less harmful products, for example paints which give off fewer volatile organic compounds and we are reducing the use of petrol equipment in our grounds maintenance.

Creating communities

In addition to investing in high-quality homes, we are committed to protecting the environment and creating sustainable communities.

Through public art and green initiatives, we enhance the places where our customers live, fostering a sense of belonging and wellbeing.

As part of this vision, we support artists through the Blunden Prize, enabling them to create striking public artworks that serve as meeting places and conversation starters within our communities.

These pieces do more than beautify our schemes - they help bring people together, spark connections, and strengthen local identity.

Beyond the artwork, we create spaces that people can use and enjoy including play areas and allotments, community gardens and more.

Prioritising open spaces

We prioritise green, open spaces, recognising their crucial role in both environmental sustainability and community wellbeing.

By planting trees, we improve biodiversity, enhance air quality, and create natural spaces where people can relax, socialise, and thrive.

These initiatives reflect our belief that a truly sustainable community is not just about the homes we build but also about the environment we nurture.
