Nicholas Harris, Chief Executive at Stonewater, said:

“The events of the last few days at Westminster, and now the resignation of Boris Johnson as leader of the Conservative party, are a huge distraction at a time when we need a Government focused on the challenges not only faced by the housing sector, but the country as a whole.

“We hope that the current uncertainty will be short-term and that the Government will be led by a Prime Minister intent on delivering on the manifesto commitments.

“We urge the Government to be mindful that solving the housing crisis requires strong, stable and continuous ministerial leadership and welcome the appointment of Greg Clark as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, who we hope can provide the stability the housing sector needs to support and deliver the Government’s ambitious housing agenda.”
