Sir Robert, who has been MP for South Swindon since 2010, met with residents over breakfast to highlight the importance of supported housing schemes and speak about local matters.
Residents raised their concerns over stores which have been lost from the town centre, as well as the difficulty many of them find accessing the shops due to limited public transport options. Concerns were also raised in relation to the scaling back of face-to-face Council led and wider community services and the value customers like those at Bow Court have in being able to deal with public services directly rather than digitally.
Sir Robert Buckland said: “It was great to catch up with some old friends living at Bow Court and to make some new ones too. We talked about online safety and access to services for non-cash card users and it was great to get positive feedback from residents about my work locally.”
Guy Morgan, Stonewater Operations Manager - Supported Living (Central Region) said: “We were delighted to welcome Sir Robert to Bow Court and would like to thank him for taking the time to visit our residents and provide them with opportunity to share their thoughts with their local MP.
“While some voiced their concerns with Sir Robert around some of the challenges they face as a local resident, many also took the opportunity to raise important issues such as the need to protect parks and green spaces for wellbeing and enjoyment – an issue we know that Sir Robert is passionate about too.
