"I arrived at one of Stonewater’s refuges with no belongings other than my handbag. - I was timid and distraught. Workers at the refuge welcomed me and gave me toiletries and clothing, along with food vouchers.
"During my stay, I attended Freedom groups and Stonewater’s specialist staff provided domestic violence support. I also had one-to-one sessions to build up my self-esteem.
"The staff supporting me contacted their Housing team to help me find somewhere to live longer-term. I also had support with the legalities of my divorce.
"Completing the Freedom Programme during my time at the refuge really helped build my self-esteem and confidence which allowed me to move on with my life.”
